ASOCIACIÓN DE CABALLOS DE PURA RAZA ESPAÑOLA AUSTRALIA Inc.
Welcome to the ACPRE-Australia Inc. website.
Last updated 5 June 2008.

ACPRE-AUSTRALIA INC. is proud to promote the Purebred Spanish Horse - the P.R.E. Horse and contains information about the breed. There is a single worldwide stud book for this breed, the stud book held in Spain and called Libro Genealógico del Caballo de Pura Raza Española (LG PRE ANCCE), managed by ANCCE, the largest association of PRE breeders based in Sevilla, Spain. For information about the Stud Book, P.R.E. horse paperwork, and registration with the Spanish Stud Book (LG PRE ANCCE) please contact the PREAA (PRE Association of Australia) or visit their website www.preaa.com.au .

WHAT IS A P.R.E. HORSE?

(Cava) Iles

Selecto II

Osado XV

P.R.E. stands for Pura Raza Española, or Purebred Spanish Horse, known also by its initials P.R.E. or PRE horse. Other terms such as Andalusian or Iberian do not represent this horse. These should be regarded along with other cross-breds or derivatives that lack the quality controls and purity as well as the documentation of the Spanish Stud Book. The P.R.E. is a horse registered in the Spanish Stud Book (Libro Genealógico del Caballo de Pura Raza Española or LG PRE for short).

THE PRE STUD BOOK (LG PRE)
There is only one Stud Book for the PRE horse and it is held in Spain under the control of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA). The LG PRE is managed by the largest breeder association in Spain, ANCCE (Asociación de Criadores de Caballos Españoles). ANCCE is the entity that represents the breeders and owners from all over the world, and is the official representative before the MAPA when deciding on the measures affecting the breed, such as breed improvement and selection scheme, requirements for registration, shows etc.

THE PRE HORSE IN SPORT
The PRE Horse is a well balanced and athletic horse with an exceptional ability to work in collection, and the super trainable temperament and willingness to work make it a versatile horse that can excel in any discipline. Although it is in Dressage and Carriage Driving that the PRE horse is achieving success at the top International Level, many PRE’s show a tremendous jumping ability and are suitable for stock work and pleasure riding.

DRESSAGE - THE OLYMPIC DREAM

The Spanish Purebred Stallion “Fuego XII”, belonging to Miguel Ángel de Cárdenas, is the first horse to be chosen by the Spanish national trainer Jean Bemelmans, to be part of the team that will be going to Hong Kong in August.

This is great news for all amateurs and PRE horse lovers!! It is also a great opportunity to promote the possibilities of our PRE horse internationally. With this news, many of the doubts about who would be attending the Olympic Equestrian Games are starting to be clarified. In the past months, “Fuego XII” and Juan Manuel Muñoz have made it to the 45th position in the FEI ranking, coming very close to “Wie Atlantico” and Juan Matute, who currently take nº 43. What seems clear, is that the ranking is not the only decisive factor taken into account by the national trainer Jean Bemelmans. In a few days, we shall know which other two partners will be traveling with the Spanish stallion “Fuego XII”. Most people confidently support “Faberge”, with Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, as a likely participant, which leaves the third and final position to be fought for by “Prestige”, with Jordi Domingo, and “Wie Atlántico”, with Juan Matute.

The Atlanta ‘96 Olympic Games was the first time that the Spanish Dressage Team reached an Olympic Final. This was the first time that PRE horses had ever participated! Their names: EVENTO, FLAMENCO and INVASOR. Sydney 2000 was the next step and the team included two PRE horses, INVASOR and DISTINGUIDO, and finished in 7th place.

In 2002, Spain’s development exploded at the WEG in Jerez, where the team won the bronze medal, again with INVASOR II, and DISTINGUIDO.

In the Athens Olympics, the Spanish Dressage Team won the Team Silver Medal, beaten only by Germany. The PRE horses in the Team were INVASOR II ridden by Rafael Soto and OLEAJE ridden by Ignacio Rambla.
